Welcome to the archives of my urban nesting adventures

For those of you who know how strong my wonderlust can be, this surprising new phase of life has been about slowing down and smelling the flowers. I plan to document my attempt at putting some roots down, making something out of nothing, (referring both to the house as well as my self confidence as a single female home buyer), and doing it in a green and efficient way.

3 months of camping

The Kitchen : This brick is the back side of the fireplace in the living room. We ripped out the wall around it, got rid of the framing and left it exposed in the kitchen.

Built around 1908, this old Ice box is still set in the wall. In the day, the milk man would come drop off bottles into the slot from the alley outside. One of my favorite pics.
Had to board up many of the windows up because I was living here all the while, and many of the windows were broken.

Shorty thought it was his own playground

The Kitchen was divided into 3 small rooms. One for the sink alone. One with a water heater and back door, and then the main space. I decided to tear down the divider walls and open it up to one big room.

I ended up finding a set of double paned, steel clad, french glass doors on craigslist for less than $100. Those now live where this hallow door and broken window used to be.
